David Boyles
Visual Art Instructor
David Boyles is an accomplished artist with 19 years of public-school teaching experience in the Pittsburgh Area. He is a graduate of Edinboro University with a BS in Art Education. He has graduated with a master’s degree in educational administration from Point Park University. Mr. Boyles is a member of the Pittsburgh Agency by Design and an active member of Harvard’s Project Zero, both groups are focused on investigating the promises, practices, and pedagogies of maker-centered learning experiences. He has been the advanced placement teacher and an award-winning teacher winning the scholastic Art and Writing Awards outstanding educator award due to his guidance and support of his students in art on a national level. His students have entered the Pittsburgh Arts Region Scholastic Art and Writing Competition annually, to date, winning National Gold and Silver Medals, American Vision Awards, Regional Gold Key Portfolios, and many Regional Gold Keys. For over ten years, Mr. Boyles was the National Arts Education Association director the school’s National Art Honor Society. Mr. Boyles has had students participate in multiple artistic endeavors throughout the community encouraging the students to make a difference by creating art while continuing to compete in other juried collegiate level exhibitions including many successful portfolios for Advanced Placement submissions. Individually, Mr. Boyles is a practicing artist who has exhibited paintings in different shows and is a practicing commission artist. Currently, he is displaying art in local galleries and continues to work on private commissions.
